Library Cards – Cards are free to all
residents of the Germantown Library District age 5 and over. If
you’re not sure if you live in the district, just ask!
Out-of-district cards may be purchased for $70 per year.
Welcome Baby Program
The library welcomes future readers by sending new parents a Welcome
Baby package, containing a bib, soft book and our library brochure.
If you know of a family which has recently welcomed a new addition,
please let us know and we'll send them a welcome pack.
Collection – Books, magazines,
books-on-tape, books-on-CD, videos, DVDs, computer software games,
puppets, puzzles, educational games, encyclopedias and newspapers
are available in the library or to be checked out. Videos may be
checked out for 1 week; all other materials may be checked out for 2
weeks. We do charge late fees of 10 cents per item, for each day
the item is overdue. Any item may be renewed in person, by phone or
by email, as long as another patron is not waiting for the item.
Kaskaskia College
Telecourse Videos – Videotapes for all Kaskaskia College
telecourses are available to be checked out for 1 week. Copies
of the course schedules available.
Interlibrary Loan – The Germantown
Library partners with other libraries throughout Illinois and in St.
Louis County to share materials with all our patrons. Items
requested through interlibrary loan are usually delivered to our
library within 3-4 days of your request.
Computers – All our patron computers are
available to use at no charge. You may call ahead to reserve a
computer. All have access to the internet, to our online catalog
and to the First Search database. Software available includes
multi-media encyclopedias, typing tutor, children’s games and word
processing programs.
Printing – Printers are available for all
computers. Fees are 20 cents per page for black and white text and
40 cents for each color page.
Copier – Photocopies cost 20 cents each.
Laminator – Items may be laminated for 50 cents per foot. Call
in advance – the laminator needs 15 minutes to warm up.
Fax Machine – Faxes may be sent from the
library for $1.00 per page. You may also receive faxes here for 50
cents per page. The fax number is 618-523-4599. 
Scanner – The library has a color scanner. You may scan items
to save to your own disk or to attach to emails at no charge. You
may also print a copy of scanned items for 20 cents in black and
white or 40 cents for color. Photo paper is available upon
request.
Book Sale – We have a sale table of used books available for
purchase. Adult hardback books are 50 cents and all paperbacks and
children’s books cost 25 cents.
